News & Updates

Happy Advent everyone This week we are beginning to prepare for Christmas. We are working like little Christmas elves to make sure all the Children’s gifts to their families are ready before the end of term on the 21st December. The children have been pouring their creativeness and love into making beautiful Christmas cards, calendars and baubles.

Preschoolers (Caterpillars)
Over the next few weeks we will be reading the nativity story, using books, figures and puppets at carpet time. We will be making Christmas trees and then decorating them. We will learn the famous children’s carol, ‘Away in a Manger’, as well as learning some new songs to dance to.

As the weather has turned cold we will be exploring the cold weather (looking at snow and ice) and how to stay warm.

We will be learning the numbers 1 -5, the colour for the week is white, letter of the week is C and the shape of the week is a star.

Twos and threes (Elmer)
This coming week we will be potato printing to make baubles. We will be looking at triangles and how to make Christmas stars from them. We will making paper chains and Christmas cookies. We also will be learning the words to ‘Away in a Manger’ and making an advent wreath. We are going to have so much fun whilst learning about this very special time of year!

Encourage your child to help decorate your Christmas tree looking at all the different shapes and colours of the decorations. Count how many baubles you have and compare the different sizes.
