News & Updates

Numeracy - Caterpillars have been learning, exploring, recognising and revising numbers up to 10. Children have been doing this through playing counting games and following cooking recipes and instructions, matching numbers to ingredient quantities. Our cooking sessions have also enhanced our cutting skills and knowledge of knife safety.

Literacy - We have been learning about rhymes through singing new songs. We have been focusing on the letters S and L in our games, small group time and other activities.

PE - We have been developing our understanding on positions and directions, dancing left and right and moving round in a circle. We have improved as the days have gone on and are now bumping into each other less than at the beginning of the week! Outside, we have also had lots of fun trying out balancing bikes for the first time.

This has been a very exciting week for the Elmer children as they have learnt to make healthy soup with our new soup maker. We chopped the vegetables - cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes and garlic and popped them into the soup maker. At snack time we all had some of the soup we made. It was delicious!

Still focusing on eating for a healthy body, we have also been enjoying listening to the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. After half term we will act out the story ourselves :-)

As part of our theme of healthy eating, we have also been painting fruit. We rolled up newspaper into the shape of an apple, satsuma and bananas. We glued on strips of paper and painted them. We talked about eating fruit and the fruits we liked.

We continue to enjoy getting ourselves messy in the mud kitchen and making lots of 'mud cakes'.
