News & Updates

In the past couple of weeks we have been looking at different textures, making collages using match sticks, rice, pasta, glitter and feathers.
In group-time we listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and wondered if the seeds we planted will grow as big as Jack’s beanstalk! We looked at the size of the giant and how small Jack was in comparison.

We carried on looking at numbers and counting on up to 20 and continue to be really good with our healthier lunch boxes and enjoying our daily exercise and we can climb and run and scooter and balance on our bikes around the play-ground.
We have been planting more flowers and vegetables and watering all of our plants. Look how much our plants have grown! The brown, shiny conkers that we planted in the Autumn are now growing into miniature trees!!

We have been practicing our counting. In group-time we counted from 1 to 5 and 1 to 10! We hae learnt ‘how many’ a number is by stamping our feet, 5 stamps for 5!! We are learning to recognise what each number looks like. In group time, Amy tries to trick us by sowing the numbers out of order but we are too clever for her!

At snack-time we have counted out our fruit pieces, talking about ‘how many’ we have.
We have also talked about colours and shapes. We have loved playing ‘shape to colour hide and seek’, trying to find where the green square has been hidden so we can put it back into the ‘green things box’. We could play this game at home with our families, using household objects that are square or round or in the shape of a triangle.

On the theme of shapes, we have been painting squares. We painted pictures using our sponge square shapes. We have also made shape pictures using our cutting and sticking skills.

Finally, we have been singing counting songs, our favourite is ‘5 currant buns in the baker’s shop’ as we get to be the currant buns.
You can all see how busy we have been!
